Ethics

ASPE members believe that adherence to ethical business practices will result in greater success in the long run. Our code of ethics guide members in their dealing with others.

Standards

A primary ASPE goal is to define and publish estimating standards that, when properly employed, will produce reliable estimates in a uniformly recognizable format.

Professionalism

Education, Ethics, Standards, Certification, & Fellowship… these lead to the ultimate goal… Professionalism. Working together to reduce problems in the construction industry.

Certification

Practice manuals in all sixteen CSI divisions, provide not only basic and fundamental guidance in estimate preparation but also include industry standards.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE

Today’s practitioners have to become proficient in many types of cutting-edge technology to clarify job requirements, address a project’s full scope and evaluate all bid documents to prepare proposals that are viable and accurate.

certification

The founders of the Society sought to include estimators of all types of construction in the membership of ASPE: residential, heavy, general, specialty trade and conceptual. In the early years of the Society, programs were developed to encourage university-level instruction in construction estimating for the novice as well as the experienced estimator. A system for evaluating the proficiency of estimators seeking certification was also envisioned. Through its Certification Program, the ASPE recognizes the estimating proficiency and ethical awareness of the Certified Professional Estimator (CPE). The Associate Estimating Professional (AEP) exam is for those lacking the required experience to sit for the CPE, but wish to demonstrate abilities and qualification to an employer.
